Washington, a member of the Portland Fire & Rescue Department, was praised for her heroic actions in rescuing a baby from a car fire in the Russel Neighborhood.

The baby was transported to a local hospital, and the department praised Washington's actions for ensuring the baby's survival.

The department responded to reports of a person on fire, a power line down the street, and four patients, including a baby, with someone on fire.

Neither Majiah nor the Baby Suffer Same Fate

They found three individuals 35 feet away from a full-size SUV with a powerline and a large tree branch.Two adults and a reported teen were confirmed dead in an SUV accident after a live powerline fell on their vehicle.

The SUV was parked near a branch, and when the feet of the individuals touched the ground, they became part of the active electrical circuit, resulting in their deaths. The incident left Washington's neighbor, Ronald Briggs, devastated, as he lost two of his six children in one day.
